Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, Perriand, for Cassina - Rare Early LC5 Leather Sofa, Italy, circa 1974
Flat bar construction, designed 1935 The Canapé model was built for Le Corbusier's home in Rue Nungesser et Coli, Paris, the chrome-plated steel frame holds together a group of cushions as in the "Fauteuil grand confort" This edition is nickel-plated steel and black leather cushions. By a linking system at either end it is possible to add more individual pieces to build a divan of indefinite length. Present day Cassina version features a curved steel base. This rare early version features a flat steel base. Scratches and scuffs to leather. Signed.
